Powering Potential

Powering Potential’s flagship program, The Technology Tent, provides solar-powered modern computer labs with training to schools in East Africa. The pilot program was successfully completed in June 2009 at the Banjika Secondary School in Karatu, Tanzania.

Our Vision:

All students in Tanzania experiencing the joys of technology: efficient production, easy access to information, and communication with others.

Our Mission:

Use technology to enhance education and stimulate imaginations of students in Tanzania while respecting and incorporating values of the local culture - especially cooperation over competition, community over the individual, modesty over pride, and spirituality over materiality.

Background:

Powering Potential has grown from a seed planted in Tanzania in 2006 to an organization with a solid foundation of donors, highly qualified volunteers, and dedicated advisors (cultural, technical, financial). While on safari in Tanzania an American entrepreneur with 23 years’ experience managing her computer consulting business, became inspired by the Tanzanian students and Powering Potential was conceived.
