As we’ve discussed in other forums, there are right ways and wrong ways to go about finding quality services for yourself, your family, or your clients when traveling abroad. Searching for, and finding, excellent limousines services is no exception. The goal is to be completely satisfied when you use a service for yourself, your business associates or your family.
Just like in any industry, there are good and bad services in every city and doing your homework and due diligence allow you to find, talk with, and select the right vehicle and have a great experience.
The last thing one wants is to have a bad experience, spend a lot of money and waste the time and resources while on holiday. We have traveled to cities like London, Paris, New York, Sydney, Miami and others and had a wonderful experience. But we have also been to Toronto, Brisbane, Perth and Dallas and had forgettable, bad experiences due to poor service and high pricing.
For example we had a horrible experience in Dallas, Texas because a friend had done the research and did not realize the weekend we were booking to take clients around to properties in town, was also a big football weekend for the Dallas Cowboys. Needless to say, we paid way over what we should have paid due to the high demand. We learned our lesson and now put the time in to do some research on the local level and find service business that are professional and courteous as that is the biggest indicator of how they will perform on “game day”.
Now, in spite of the experience we had in Dallas, we’ve had other experiences that we fantastic. For example, we had a delightful experience with a limo service in West Palm Beach because we personally did our homework, talked with the owner, picked out our vehicle on the website and solidified a great rate. In fact, we had a friend go by their offices to personally look at their vehicles and pick out one they knew we would like. All consumers should heed of the notes below as to the proper way to secure world class services in most any industry worldwide. It takes a little extra time but it is well worth it in the end. When you are spending hundreds of dollars, not to mention valuable time on a vacation or business trip, it is in your best interest to do your homework.
It is imperative, especially in the limousine industry, to look for professional companies that have newer vehicles and allow you to reserve the one you want. All to often, you reserve online, provide a payment method, only to receive an older, smelly, prom night special.
There are a number of ways to find great services prior to leaving on a trip or when you arrive. We suggest the following methods:
- Google the service in that city
- Check the website of the local Better Business Bureau for reviews
- Ask friends in your destination city
- Ask business associates in your destination city
- Yelp
- check reviews on all the sites you can possible find
- Talk to the owner personally
- Secure the exact vehicle you want and make sure it’s what you get
- Pay the agreed upon price and 20% tip (if warranted)
